Hold on (Danny Hooper)
My
wife has threatened to leave me several times during our marriage. At the time
of writing Hold
on, however, we were going great so there's no actual
personal
relevance here. We
were on the last stretch of our trip
around Australia
and we
were
camping in a little camp area called Quagi
Beach in Western Australia,
just west
of Esperance.
I was
out jogging along the beautiful coastline when the idea hit. As usual, the
chorus hook-line was the first
to arrive and the song was built around that.
I did
struggle with one verse however so I took it over to a neighbouring
camper.
Her name was Ida and she
actually gave me a couple of lines to finish it off.
I have given Ida a thank
you in the credits.
It’s
been a while since I’ve seen the sun There’s darkness all
around this place I’ve watched the light in your eyes grow dim
And the cold creep across your face I know you think it’s over
And you’re saying maybe we should end. Hold on, me and you Just because
we’re fighting doesn’t mean we’re through Hold on ‘til the end
Let’s get back the love we once had Take a good long look
around Two hearts at the lost and found Can you remember the times we had
When we found love at the start We’d walk together along the
beach And hold hands in the park I wanna see that
look again The fire in your eyes Hold on, me and you Just because
we’re fighting doesn’t mean we’re through Hold on ‘til the end
Let’s get back the love we once had Take a good long look
around Two hearts at the lost and found, Hold on It’s a two part harmony It’s not
about you and it’s not about me Hold
on, me and you Just because we’re fighting doesn’t mean we’re
through Hold on ‘til the end Let’s get back the
love we once had Take a good long look around Two
hearts at the lost and found, Hold on
