 5. Up
(Danny Hooper)
I
went through a stage a few years ago when I seemed to lose my dream. I had
stacked
on a heap of weight and was
feeling pretty crappy.
I
actually wrote the song while I was out walking one morning at 6am. I
was
thinking
about how far I’d come in my
life and how far I haven’t been yet, you
know, a
bit of self assessment. Up is a
song about Determination and
the ‘Never
Give Up’ scenario.
It fits in
with where I am now in my career, knowing what’s in
front of me.
Writing
Up helped me lose nine kilos.
There’s a world over the horizon I’ve
been dreaming of And it’s calling my name out loud this time
I’m gonna heed its call Well, I know there’s no freeway to
get me where I’m bound But I’ve been wandering lost getting
nowhere Tryin’ to make some ground There’s fire
left in my heart and I’m gonna make a start Hold back the water, wrestle the wind
Don’t let the fire get a punch in Cut through the jungle,
crash through the wall I’ll get back up each time I fall
There’s a girl on top of a mountain
who’s always on my mind And there’s a whole lot of reasons we
can’t be But I’ll still make the climb I know I’ll
meet resistance but she’s worth all I’ll pay Two steps
forward and one step back I’ll reach her someday
There’s fire left in my heart and I’m gonna make a start Hold back the water, wrestle the wind
Don’t let the fire get a punch in Cut through the jungle,
crash through the walls I’ll get back up each time I fall
It’s a strong heart from where the
journey starts to where it ends All I need is endless
strength to get back up Again and again and again and again
There’s fire left in my heart and I’m
gonna make a start Hold back
the water, wrestle the wind Don’t let the fire get a punch in
Cut through the jungle, crash through the walls I’ll get back
up each time I fall Hold
back the water, wrestle the wind Don’t let the fire get a
punch in Cut through the jungle, crash through the walls
I’ll get back up each time I fall
