8. Already Gone (Danny Hooper)

    We were on a 1 year holiday around Australia with our three children at the time.      We were camping at Mt Granya State Park near Wodonga, Victoria.  We had the         whole campsite to ourselves and it was just beautiful. We could have been                 anywhere.  At night time we sat around a campfire and cooked in our camp oven,     as we often did on our travels.  It was a beautiful clear night and we could see             every star in the sky.  I remember thinking, “What a great way to live.”

    We went to bed that night and around 2am I woke up to a flood of lyrics in my             head. I fought it for a while but it got the better of me so I got up, went out and             sat in the car with a pen, paper, and a torch.  Half hour later I had a song.

I can see him out the corner of my eye
Trying to tell me something, my ears are closed up tight
His face is turning red and I think he just said
“Better pull your weight son or you’re fired”, but I’m….

Blue dog by my side, swag rolled up tight and I’m

She’s standing in the kitchen and she’s on
Something ‘bout a dream she had that never came along
Her eyes are fiery red and I think she just said
“Get out my house, you don’t belong”, oh but I’m….
