Dreamland (Danny Hooper)
This
song was originally penned and recorded as ‘Give it all,’’ a song
written for
the Sydney 2000 Olympics. I fought hard
to try and have it included in the line-up
of songs for the Games but to no
avail. It was
such a good-feel song that I couldn’t let it go so I re-wrote it to be
about
our beautiful great country. It’s a song
which seems to make its listeners feel proud to
be Australian.
The Great Red Rock is beating, the
heart of this great land Spirit flows through every vein to
reach the coastal sand From tropics to the desert there’s a
feast of paradise Dreams are made a-many when together we
unite This is a Dreamland so
wide and free Such beauty from the red rock to the sea
A land of hope where hearts run free This is Australia.
From the rugged Kimberleys to the Snowy
Mountain range History leaves the footprints of our Ancestral
days A nation built with courage, they’ve toiled to shine the
light A future paved of freedom, of hope and dreams alike
This is a Dreamland so wide and free
Such beauty from the red rock to the sea A land of hope where
hearts run free This is Australia. Our wealth is in the people, the key to
where they stand With hearts as big as Uluru, they’ll lend a
helping hand An all-infectious smile, a common Aussie trait
With open arms they’ll welcome you, a simple “G’day Mate” This is a Dreamland so wide and free
Such beauty from the red rock to the sea A land of hope where
hearts run free This is Australia |
